CWG 2018: Mary Kom wins Gold, Neeraj Chopra creates History

Gold Coast: On the penultimate day of the 21st Commonwealth Games here in Australia, ace Indian boxer and five-time world champion M C Mary Kom won the day’s first Gold in women boxing’s in 45-48 kg category.

The 35-year-old star boxer defeated Kristina O’Hara of Northern Ireland by a unanimous 5-0 verdict to grab the yellow title.

Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian javelin thrower to clinch a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, pulling off a season’s best effort of 86.47m in the final.

Boxer Gaurav Solanki won the coveted medal in men’s flyweight (52 kilogram) category.

In shooting, Sanjeev Rajput claimed the 50-metre rifle 3 positions gold medal by creating a Commonwealth Games record in both qualification and final, ending the Indian shooters’ impressive campaign at the mega event on a high.

In Badminton, it will be all-Indian women’s singles final as both Saina Naiwal and P V Sindhu won their respective singles semi-finals today.
