Culprits will not be spared: DGP on Koraput school girl gang rape

Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Dr. RP Sharma on Tuesday averred that the culprits in the Koraput school girl gang rape case will not be spared.

“A case has been registered in the minor girl gang rape incident and senior officials are investigating the matter. The victim has alleged that four persons in BSF uniform have raped her. The medical report is awaited. The culprits will not be spared at any cost,” said Sharma, speaking exclusively to KalingaTV.

Meanwhile, BSF PRI DIG JC Nayak claimed that BSF troopers were not involved in the heinous crime. The nearest BSF Company location is about 35 kms from the place where the incident took place. BSF does not operate in the area.

Meanwhile, tension in the area intensified with Congress MLA Krushna Sagaria staging a dharna in front of the SP’s office demanding immediate arrest of the accused. Hundreds of locals also protested the gang rape by torching tyres on the main road in Koraput town.

A ninth class student of Sorisapadar village under Patangi police limits in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel while returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) today. She was rushed to the Kunduli hospital in a serious condition. Later, she was shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) at Koraput.
