Puri: The Court of District Judge issued a notice inviting suggestions from public in the form of affidavits over management of Sri Jagannath Temple here on Wednesday.

The Court has set June 20 as the last date for submitting the affidavits.

The lower court’s invitation for suggestion came following the recent directive of the Supreme Court. The apex court had on June 8 directed the Court of District Judge to submit a report on factual aspects of difficulties faced by the visitors, exploitative practices, if any, and deficiencies in the management, if any, along with his suggestions by June 30.

Hearing a petition filed by Mrinalini Padhi highlighting difficulties faced by devotees at the Jagannath Temple in Puri and their harassment or exploitation by sevayats of the temple, a bench of justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and Ashok Bhushan of the apex court had asked the Puri District Judge for submission of the report.
