Bhubaneswar: PCC President Prasad Harichandan lashed out at BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik for his instant support to BJP’s Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind, terming it unethical.
“Why he was in a hurry to extend his support to BJP without waiting for the announcement of Opposition candidate. Even key NDA ally Shiv Sena delayed it decision? It exposed Naveen and Modi. They are just brothers although they indulge in public posturing to fool the public”, he added.
Prasad urged all 147 MLAs in Odisha to listen to their inner voice and act as per their conscience to choose the right candidate as the President of India. He sought for Meira Kumar, saying she deserves to be India’s next President.
After arriving in Delhi along with 5 other Congress MLAs to become proposers for Opposition’s Presidential Candidate Meira Kumar, Koraput MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati too claimed that many BJD MLAs could support Meira Kumar, as they are not happy with Naveen’s decision to support Ram Nath Kovind.
“Many in BJD, Shiv Sena and even BJP believe Meira Kumar is a much better candidate than Ram Nath Kovind. So, cross voting in these parties can’t be ruled out,” he added.
