Commissionerate Police returns stolen propertiesBhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police handed over the looted and later recovered properties to the owners in a ‘mela’ at the reserve police ground here on Saturday.

The Twin City police handed over as many as 43 motor cycles, 3 mobile phones and 3 laptops to their respective owners.

The owners who received the stolen properties were from Kendrapada, Khurdha, Dhenkanal, Jajpur and Bhubaneswar.

The Commissionerate Police identified the mobile owners from the IMEI number of mobile phones, which were seized from the robbers, and gave the items back at the ‘mela’.

Similarly, the city police traced the actual owners of the vehicles with the help of its registration and chassis numbers and handed over the items to their actual owners.

Commissioner of Police, Y.B.Khurania handed over the recovered properties in the presence of Additional CP, Bhubaneswar DCP and ICs.

According to sources, the other recovered properties will be kept at different police stations and will be handed over to the respective owners after establishing proper ownership.

However, if the actual owners are not traced within six months, police will auction the items, added the sources.
