Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Special Squad of the Commissionerate Police, acting on a tip off, busted a major robbers’ gang involved in several incidents of loot and arrested eight members of the team, including two juveniles, here on Sunday.
The city police seized a pistol, four motorcycles and Rs 60,000 from their possession.
According to Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi, the gang mostly used to target people on National Highway and those returning after withdrawing cash from banks.
“Acting on a tip off, we have arrested eight robbers and snatchers today. Efforts are on to bust the entire gang which used to operate in Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,” said the DCP adding that more than 20 cases are pending against arrested robbers and snatchers at different police stations.
