Kendrapara: In a shameful incident, a girl of Kendrapara Autonomous College lodged a case against her boyfriend last night for allegedly raping her at knife-point and then filming her naked in Gayaspur village under Kendrapara Sadar police limits.
As per the complaint, the accused identified as Smruti Ranjan Samal (24), a +3 Final Year student of the same college had developed a relationship with her after initial stalking for past few months. However, their relationship took an ugly shape after the accused intercepted the girl on her way back to home from college tuition on Janauary 24 this year, with an intention of sexual act. Despite the girl’s repeated knock backs, the accused dragged her to a bushy area near Madhusagar pond in the village and raped. Later he threatened the victim to push her into the pond and photographed her naked at knife-point. The victim was later released on a note of warning not to disclose the incident to anybody.
“I mustered courage to lodge a police complaint finally, after Smruti started blackmailing me with those obscene photos. He threatened me to make them viral on social media if I don’t marry him soon,” said the victim.
Meanwhile, police have detained the accused boy acting upon the complaint and charged him under Section 376 of IPC.
“The victim’s statement would be recorded under Section 164 of CrPC once her medical examination is completed at the Kendrapara DHH today,” said Kabuli Barik, IIC, Kendrapara Sadar Police Station.
