Niali: With no sign of relief in sight for the crime against women in the state, police have traced the dead body of a 17-year-old college girl who had been gang-raped, murdered and then buried by her abductors in Sudasailo village under Postala panchayat in Cuttack district on Sunday.
The deceased identified as Sanghamitra Bhoi alias Kandhei of Sudasailo village went missing on Feb 11. After failing to find her following a frantic search, Kandhei’s father Prashant Bhoi lodged a case at Gobindpur Police Station on the same day. Acting upon the complaint police detained at least three persons on suspicion yesterday.
The accused identified as Bapuna Patnaik of Tunda, Sunil Pani of Balikuda and Kalu Bhoi of Badamulai confessed to their crime during their interrogation by police last night. The trio divulged before cops that after raping the girl following her abduction they buried the body in a farmland located in Tunda Balichhaka area.
Gobindpur Police had reached the spot to excavate the dead bodies and was waiting for the arrival of the magistrate and scientific team till this report was being filed.
