Nayagarh: The Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Maoist-dominated Nayagarh district have started the practice of setting off on bicycles to meet the people in an exemplary people connect initiative.
According to reports, Arindam Dakua, Collector and Asish Singh, SP of the district commence their bicycle rides at 6 AM almost everyday to interact with the people on various issues like roads and civic amenities.
Sporting a T shirt and shorts, they cycle up to 25-30 kms every day, making unscheduled trips to various parts of the district. They cover up to 70-80 kms on weekends and holidays. The initiative has now become the talk of the town and worried other officers of the district.
Speaking about the unconventional idea, the duo said that the initiative is more to do with keeping oneself fit and also to notice and monitor implementation of welfare programmes in the district.
