Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education Minister, Badri Narayan Patra said today that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had agreed on principle to abolish the block grant system, for which the teachers and lecturers have been demonstrating since at the Lower PMG square here for the past 14 days.
There is, however, no clarity yet if the teachers will receive the benefits of the 7th Pay Commission, recently granted by the Odisha government.
The grant-in- aid system will be implemented after the abolition of the the block grant system.
Later in the day, the members of the Association are supposed to have a meeting with the representatives of the ministry.
