Cuttack: BJD MLA from Choudwar-Cuttack, Pravat Biswal has been arrested by the CBI in connection with the Seashore chit fund scam.
He was detained by the CBI late in the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday and brought to Bhubaneswar. He was formally arrested after a marathon round of questioning here, CBI sources said.
Pravat Biswal was earlier questioned by the CBI at least four times in connection with purchase of a piece of land from the Seashore group.
People close to Pravat Biswal condemned his arrest saying the BJP had become vindictive following the success of BJD’s hartal over fuel price hike. Another BJD MLA Debashish Samantaray too hit out at the BJP and the Modi Govt on this issue.
