CBI arrests mines Manager on graft charges in Odisha

Jharsuguda: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Manager of a coal mine in Orient Area of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL), situated at Brajrajnagar of the district, on graft charges.

The arrested mines Manager has been identified as Surendra Kumar, the manager of Mine No. 1 and 2 under Orient Area.

Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from one Sirauddin, an employee of the company, to facilitate his transfer to another project. However, Sirauddin informed the CBI about the matter.

Following Sirauddin’s complaint, a 15-member CBI team from Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, led by DSP N.C. Sahoo, set a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe.

Meanwhile, the mines Manager has been forwarded to the court.
