Berhampur:  Thousands of commuters are facing tough time here in Odisha on Monday as the bus strike called by the Ganjam District Private Bus Owners’ Association, protesting against the district administration’s decision to relocate the terminal to Haldiapadar, enters day two today.

More than 700 buses connecting to Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Aska, Phulbani, Boudh and other parts of the state stayed off the road in the city, leaving the commuters stranded at the bus terminal.

Association President Subash Chandra Panda alleged that the administration had not made proper safety arrangements for the new terminal.

“We demand construction of an over bridge for the movement of vehicles on NH-16 and an underpass for the buses near the bus terminal,” said Panda.

The association has threatened to continue the strike till the district administration resolved the issue.
