Owners’ association strike hits bus services on Puri-Konark route

Bhubaneswar: Protesting the torching of three buses by locals in Pipili, the Bhubaneswar Bus Owners’ Association, on Tuesday, called for an indefinite strike. As a result, bus services from Bhubaneswar to Puri, Konark, Nimapara and Astaranga were badly hit.

On Monday, a group of locals had set three buses on fire after a speeding private bus ran over a couple in Pipili.

The strike initiated by Bhubaneswar Bus Owners’ Association has been backed by All Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association and Cuttack Bus Owners’ Association.

Threatening to continue the boycott, the bus association has demanded adequate compensation for the damage caused to the buses along with waiving off ther EMIs. In addition, they also sought the arrest of the locals involved in torching the buses.
