Malkangiri: ‘Humanity is above profession’ proved a troop of BSF jawans in the Maoist affected Malkangiri district today.
According to reports, Pramila Khara (21), a native of Badapada village in the cut-off area of the district had labour pain since last night. However, her family members could not take her to the hospital by road due to non-availability of ambulance or any other vehicle.
Sources said that the distance to the hospital through the riverway was shorter than the road. However, her family members had left hope of her survival as they did not have even any means to cross the river to reach the hospital.
But, a team of BSF jawans led by Assistant Commandant of Janbai Sushil Singh and Sandip Gupta of Badapada came to Khara’s rescue today. The security personnel, who had gone for a routine patrolling in the area, ferried Pramila in their boat and took her to the hospital.
She was admitted to a hospital in Chitrakonda and was later referred to the district headquarters hospital.
The efforts of the BSF jawans have been appreciated by people of all walks of life in the district.
