Rairangpur: In a tragic incident, a brother-sister duo met a watery grave while taking bath in Kadakhai river near here in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
The deceased duo has been identified as Heena Gujrati and her brother Nanu Gujrati (10). They belonged to a Gujarati family which was earning its livelihood by selling utensils in Rairangpur area.
The mishap took place in the noon, minutes after the victim duo went to the river to take bath. While bathing, Nanu first slipped into the water due to some reason and raised an alarm. Heena who was present nearby jumped into the water to save her brother following which they both drowned in the river.
After getting intimation fire officials reached the spot later in the day and fished out the dead bodies of the victims from water.
Police have lodged a case of unnatural death in the incident after sending the bodies for autopsy.
