Blood disorder patients to get Medical travel expenses in Odisha

Blood Donation DayBhubaneswar: Thalassemia, Sickle-cell anemia, and Hemophilia patients in the state would now get Rs 500 per as their medical travel expenses, announced Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the occasion of the Voluntary Blood Donation Day here today.

Announcing of the new measure at a special function organized at Jaydev Bhawan in the city by State Blood Transfusion Council in association with the State Health and Family Welfare Department, Naveen said blood donation as a noble deed.

“Blood donation is a noble deed and all should come forward to take part in it. The state government announces to provide financial assistance of Rs 500 for patients suffering with Thalassemia, Sickle-cell anaemia (SCA), and Hemophilia while traveling to medical for transfusion,” said Naveen while addressing at the function.

Informing on the new initiative State Health Minister Pratap Jena said, the patients suffering with these blood related diseases would now be entitled to get this financial assistance every time they undergoes a transfusion.

Ama Odisha president Soumya Ranjan Patnaik , who was also present on the occasion, hailed the new initiative of Odisha Government saying that it would help the poor in the state.
