New Delhi/Srinagar: In a major political development, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday tendered her resignation as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir minutes after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had broken the ruling alliance with PDP in the State.

Addressing a press meet in New Delhi, BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav said, “ The decision to break the alliance with Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP in Jammu and Kashmir has been taken by BJP President Amit Shah after a meeting with party legislators and party chief Ravinder Raina from the State”.

“The decision came after analysing the current political and security situation in the state, especially after the Centre revoked the month-long suspension of a ceasefire in the state”, he added.

The decision was taken in the wake of sensational killing of ‘The Rising Kashmir’ editor Shujaat Bukhari and Army rifleman Aurangzeb by Pakistan-backed terrorists.

Meanwhile, the BJP has demanded to impose a President’s Rule in the State.
