Cuttack: Ahead of the first T20 international, players of India and Sri Lanka toiled hard in the nets at the iconic Barabati Stadium here on Tuesday. The Sri Lankan players reached the stadium at around 10.00 AM today, while the home team began its practice session at around 01.30 PM.

India’s new pace department consisting of Jasprit Bumrah, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Siraj and Basil Thampi were seen doing hard work in the presence of coach Ravi Shastri, while veteran MS Dhoni , skipper Rohit Sharma and opening batsman batted for a long time.

The local spectators also enjoyed the net sessions of both teams, as the OCA allowed them to see their favourite cricketers playing in a close distance.

Cuttack has only hosted one T20I, in which South Africa bowled India out for 92 before strolling to a six-wicket win, amid crowd trouble, in 2015.

The Commissionerate Police have instructed spectators not to carry objectionable items like water bottles, water pouches, matchboxes, crackers, bugles, flash lights, mirrors and knifes with them.

In view of the match, security in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack has been beefed up. As many as 63 platoons of police will be deployed in Cuttack and 18 platoons in Bhubaneswar for the smooth conduct of the match.

Meanwhile, the local administration has planned to set up giant screens in different parts of the city as all the tickets of the stadium were sold out.

The match will begin at 07.00 PM tomorrow, while the gates of the stadium will be opened for spectators from 04.00 PM onward.
