Balangir, Balasore medical colleges get MCI nod for admissions

Bhubaneswar: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has granted permission to two new government medical colleges of Odisha in Balasore and Bolangir districts for admitting MBBS students from the session 2018-19.

“The MCI has granted Letter of Permission (LOP) for starting admissions at Balasore & Balangir Medical Colleges from this year 2018-19. The new medical colleges will fulfill the advanced healthcare needs of the people in the region & also boost professional manpower in the state” said a press release issued by the Health Department of the state government.

The MCI has also given its green signal for 100 seats each in second year at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital, (PRM) Baripada & Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College and Hospital, (SLN) Koraput along with 250 seats each at Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital, (SCB) Cuttack and Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital, (MKCG) Berhampur respectively.

This apart, the MCI has also increased two super-speciality seats in Doctor of Medicine (DM) of Endocrinology Department at MKCG Medical College and Hospital for the year 2018-19.
