As per reports, the tribal baby boy was suffering from stomach problem around two weeks back. Instead of taking him to the hospital, his mother opted for the traditional treatment of branding the baby with hot iron bangles on his stomach.

However, condition of the baby worsened at around 8 PM yesterday. His parents then rushed him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here, where the baby died while undergoing treatment.

It is not an isolated case of this superstitious practice in this region. On June 19, a couple allegedly branded their six-month-old baby boy with a hot bangle at Khutiguda village under the same block.

Though his health condition had deteriorated, the child however recovered after treatment at the DHH here.
