Daringbadi: An alerted ASHA health worker foiled a robbery bid at Gaddadi village under Daringbadi police limits in Kandhamal district last night.

According to reports, a youth from Pangali village barged into the house of one Ahalya Majhi, an ASHA health worker, by breaking open the clutches of the door while she was asleep along with her family members at around 10.30 PM. The youth was accompanied by two of his friends who were standing outside. However, the robbers fled the spot after Ahalya’s husband Jitu Majhi, on being alerted by her, chased to catch them.

The same youth entered Ahalya’s house for the second time at around 2 AM. But, he was overpowered by Jitu and his neighbours whom the health worker alerted. Later, the youth was chained and kept by the locals whole night until Daringbadi police reached the spot and arrested him this morning.
