Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia cine star Aparajita Mohanty resigned from the Indian National Congress (INC) party on Tuesday.
Aparajita announced on her decision to quit the party last night without mentioning the reason thereof. She neither mentioned anything about her future plan in politics.
Aparajita, who joined Congress on February 20, 2014, had unsuccessfully contested BJD candidate Bhartruhari Mahatab from Cuttack Parliamentary Constituency.
After leaving Congress, she is expected to join BJP. However, her husband and mega star of Odia movie industry Uttam Mohanty is in the conch party (BJD).
Aparajita’s quit at the crucial juncture when Bijepur by-election in Bargarh district is round the corner, could be seen as a big blow to Congress, which was planning for a star campaign in the constituency.
