Amit Shah slams Naveen Govt over backwardness

Bhawanipatna: BJP President Amit Shah on Wednesday slammed Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over backwardness in health, education and other socio-economic sectors in the state, saying that the Centre had contributed generously for its development but in vain.

“Despite Centre’s allocation of Rs 45,000 crores to the State Government, Odisha lags behind in health, education and all other socio-economic sectors,” said Shah, while addressing a public meeting here in Kalahandi district in the state.

“We want to build an Odisha where youth of the state will not migrate to other states in search of jobs,” he added.

“As many as 12,442 villages are not connected through roads in Odisha,” the BJP President pointed out saying the BJP  Government in the state will connect these villages in just 2 years.

The saffron leader also reiterated that BJP will form the government in Odisha in 2019.

During his two-day visit, Shah will meet party office-bearers and discuss strategy for the 2019 general elections, sources said. He is scheduled to address another public meeting at Balangir tomorrow.

Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, State BJP chief Basant Panda, Party’s state in-charge Arun Singh and several senior leaders of the party were present on the occasion.
