Bhubaneswar: Low cost carrier Air Odisha started its maiden operations between Bhubaneswar and Raipur of Chhattisgarh from Biju Patnaik International Airport here today.

The flight 6X 115 departed from Bhubaneswar at 6.10 am and arrived in Raipur at 7.40 am. The return flight 6X 120 will depart from Raipur at 12.15 pm and reach Bhubaneswar at 1.40 pm. The 20-seater flight will operate six days a week, except on Sundays.

BPIA Director Suresh Chandra Hota flagged off the flight with 9 passengers, 2 pilots and one cabin crew member on board. “This service will help both the states to grow as earlier there was no flight service between both the capital cities,” said Suresh Chandra Hota.

With the commencement of this service, travel time between the cities would be reduced as it would only take 90 minutes from Bhubaneswar to reach Raipur.

Air Odisha launched this service under the regional connectivity scheme Udey Desh ka Aam Naagarik (UDAN). The airport authorities are also mulling to connect services to Jharsuguda and Rourkela when the airstrips are ready.
