Bhubaneswar: While sprinter Dutee Chand brought cheer to fans in Odisha by winning a bronze medal in Women’s 100m event, favourite Amiya Mallick got a heartbreak as he was disqualified in the Men’s 100m due to a false start.
Dutee Chand defied all odds to win a bronze although he looked certain to win at least a silver medal.
“I thank KIIT University, Odisha Goverment and all others who supported me to reach this stage”, said Dutee.
CM Naveen Patnaik who was at the stadium to cheer Dutee Chand and Amiya, said “Odisha is proud of you”,
Amiya Mallick made a false start and failed to move into the final of Men’s 100m.
