Berhampur: At least eight persons were hurt and three others turned critical following a group clash which erupted between the residents of two sahis in Tatadapalli village under Golanthara police limits in Ganjam district over past enmity on Saturday. Bombs were also hurled during the scuffle.

The incident took place at around 7.30 AM in the morning while the member of a group was on their way to drop children at school. They were intercepted and attacked by members of the rival group in which one D Lachheya along with his brother D Bairagi sustained head injuries.

After the news spread in the village the supporters of the victim duo set out to lodge a report at the local police station when the members of the rival group again stopped them. As they started reprimanding them against lodging complaint a group clash erupted between both the sides in which bombs were hurled. At least 9 persons were hurt in the fight.

The injured were immediately rushed to MKCG Medical where conditions of at least three of them remain critical.

“A dispute exists between both the sahis over sharing of water, fishing as well as organisation of different functions for last two years and the attack is fallout of that. At least 10 bombs were hurled at us by the rival party during the attack,” said D Bairagi.

Police have reached the village and taken 10 persons from both sides to check the violence from spreading further in the area.
