7 Maoists gunned down during encounter in Chhattisgarh

Malkangiri: At least seven Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces on Dantewanda-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh this morning.

According to Bastar DIG Sunder Raj, bodies of four women and three men red rebels have been recovered from the spot. Besides, six guns along with two INSAS rifles were also seized.

However, the death toll is likely to go up as encounter is still underway.

The DIG said that the shootout between Maoists and security personnel broke out while a joint team of Special Task Force (STF) personnel and District Reserve Guards (DRG) was carrying out a search operation in Timenaar Pahadi area early this morning.

More security personnel, meanwhile, have been sent to the scene of the encounter.
