Kendrapara: Normal life remained out of gear in Aul and Rajkanika area of Kendrapra district starting from the morning today due to a 6-hour bandh called by the Aul, Kanika Milita Kriyanusthan Committee in demand of sub-division status for Aul block.
While shops and other business establishments preferred to down their shutters in view of the bandh, members of the Committee resorted to picketing at several places in Aul and Kanika and also held protest meetings.
Private offices remained closed during the bandh to keep any untoward incident at bay.
Commuters faced a tough time starting from 6 AM in the morning as the bandh brought traffic flow on the roads in both these areas to a grinding halt.
The Committee is demanding sub-division status for Aul as it feels the blocks fulfills the eligibility criteria to get upgraded to the same. It has also blamed the apathetic attitude of the Odisha Government towards considering the legitimate demand of the locals of this block.
