Bhubaneswar: The 5th KiiT International School National Children’s Literary Festival was inaugurated here on Saturday.

The two-day Literary Festival was inaugurated in the presence of Padma Bhushan Ruskin Bond, Chief Adviser of the festival and a galaxy of eminent authors, publishers, storytellers, cartoonists and illustrators, including Prajwal Parajuly, Arup Bose, Ameen Haque and Ajit Narayan.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, also attended the festival, which is being organized by Kloud 9 and hosted by KiiT International School. The festival is first of its kind and is exclusively for children.

The dignitaries enthralled the participants with an array of talks, cartooning and photography workshops, panel discussion, vocabulary sessions and a lot more.

While Arup Bose explained what makes a best seller, Prajwal refuted the importance of Publisher. Ameen Haque weaved magic through his stories. Book reading session by Ruskin Bond stole the show.

National Children’s Literary Festival was joined by renowned National Award winning film director Nila Madhab Panda, showcasing his upcoming film, “Kadvi Hawa” accompanied with Sanjai Mishra, Ranvir Shorey and Manish Mundra, who have acted in the film.

Bhubaneswar-based standup comedy group Bhubaneswar Komedians came together for a humourous, rib-tickling performance. The acclaimed theater group from Mumbai, Rangbaaz were back again at NCLF this year after winning our hearts over with their last performance in 2015. This year, they performed on “Jungle Book 2” based on Rudyard Kipling’s famous story about Mowgli and his adventures, on 19th November 2017.

Newspaper collection from 1947 was displayed for the students. The participants also learned sixty words in thirty minutes through Bollywood songs. The two day literary Festival was a bonanza, enriching and memorable experience for one and all.

“Such festivals instill in young minds the enthusiasm for literature. Exposure of this kind goes a long way in all round development of the students”, opined Dr. Samanta.

Dr. Monalisa Bal, Chairperson of KIIT International School and Dr. Sanjay Suar, Principal of KIIT International School have always tried to try innovative ways for making the children wear many hats.

KIIT International School started the trend of Children’s Literary Festival from 2013 based on the concept conceived by its visionary Founder, Prof. Achyuta Samanta.

The NCLF is the flagship event of Kloud9, the only students’ magazine for students and managed by students.

Taking off from 2013, it has become one of the most loved and interesting Children’s Festival. Each edition of the festival has seen greater enthusiasm and participation than the previous one. As many as 500 students took part in the event with more than 35 schools all over India participating in it.
