5 minors rescued from abductors in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Timely intervention of co-passengers helped save at least five minors from the clutches of abductors at Tangaramunda under Kuchinda sub-division in the district last evening.

The rescued minors have been identified as Sunita Nayak (8), Nandini Nayak (7), Raju Nayak (5), Shankar Nayak (6) and Raja Nayak (6) and all are from Rourkela area.

The minors who were boarding a DMU train came under the scanner of some co-passengers at Bamara Station. Finding two men accompanying the minors behaving in a suspicious manner the locals smelled a rat and inquired about their identity. In fear of getting caught the abductor duo ran away from the spot immediately.

Gobindpur Police reached the station after getting intimation on the incident from the passengers and rescued the abductees.

Police said it knew during the quizzing of the minors that the traffickers had kidnapped them from Rourkela on pretext of providing biscuits.

Police have launched a manhunt to trace the kidnappers.
