Cuttack: Five persons were killed after a car in which they were traveling collided head-on with a speeding truck at Aurandha village under Gurudijhatia police limits on National Highway (NH)-55 on Wednesday.
The road accident left one critically injured. He was initially taken to the local hospital and later was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
The mishap took place when the five were traveling in the car with the registration number – OR 02-BC 9432 was hit from front by a truck (OD 33-B 0531).
While three of the deceased died on the spot, the others died while being carried to the hospital.
Gurudijhatia police, on being informed by the locals, rushed to the spot and rescued the bodies with the support of the villagers and sent them to the hospital for postmortem. Further investigation into the tragic road mishap is underway.
Till the filing of this report, none of the victim was identified.
