5 injured in group clash in Puri village

Puri: At least six persons were injured in a group clash which erupted between two groups in Jamuna village under Krushnaprasad police limits in Brahmagiri area on Wednesday.

It all started after a group of men from Badasahi in the village passed objectionable comments to one Golekh Sahoo of Sanasahi while he was taking bath in a village pond in the morning. After Golekh objected, they thrashed him brutally.

As the news spread, two separate groups from Sanasahi and Badasahi indulged in a pitched battle in the village over the incident and attacked each other with sticks. Stone pelting also occurred during the clash leaving 5 persons injured.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital following the incident and later shifted to MKCG Hospital in Berhampur.

The situation was brought under control after Krushnaprasad Police reached the spot and had talks with the representatives of both the groups.
