Bhubaneswar: The 48th Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) National Sports Meet-2017 was inaugurated at KIIT University here on Saturday.
KVS Commissioner Santosh Kumar Mall inaugurated the sports meet in the presence of many dignitaries including Dr. Achyta Samanta, founder of KISS and KIIT and Odisha’s ace sprinter Dutee Chand.
Nine events will be played in different phases during the sports meet which is slated to conclude on November 11.
While Volleyball, Chess Basket Ball and Athletics competition will be conducted in the first phase (October 21-24), events like Judo, Kho kho, Football and Archery will be held in the second phase (October 27-30). Cricket will be played between November 7 and November 11.
All the events, apart from the athletic events, will be conducted in KIIT University. The athletic competition will be held at Kalinga Stadium.
As many as 1200 participants and 300 officials have arrived at KIIT University for the sports championship.
