Besides bone weapons, several black and red earthen pots, stone axe, mat-impressed ware, deer horns, fossils of fish and turtle were discovered from the excavation site at Bharatihuda near Jallarpur village in the district .

“The weapon tools which we found today, appear to have been made during the Chalcolithic period or Copper Age,” said Archaeologist of ASI and Excavation wing’s Director DB Gadnayak.

“Archaeological findings from the village provide necessary information about the existence of rural establishments of the human civilisation of Copper Age in this region,” he added.

The archaeological excavation in the village, which began on January 4, will continue till April this year, informed an ASI official.

Earlier, the ASI had discovered spear and arrow made from animal bones during excavation project at Golabai Sasan in 90s.
