4 from Odisha receive Padma Shri Awards at Rashtrapati Bhawan

The State swelled with pride as four persons from Odisha were conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award by President of India Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Thursday.

While renowned singer Jitendriya Haripal was felicitated for his contribution in the field of Art, Director Sadhu Meher got the award for his work in the field of Cinema. Danseuse Aruna Mohanty was honoured for promoting Odissi dance and Dr. Mukut Minz was conferred with the award for his contribution in the field of Medical Science.

In addition, Wrestler Sakshi Malik, Paralympian Mariyappan Thangavelu, gymnast Dipa Karmakar and Chef Sanjeev Kapoor also received the award.

In total, the President felicitated 89 personalities, including 19 women, with various civilian honours. While the Padma Shri was conferred to 75 persons, Padma Bhusan and Padma Vibhusan were awarded to 7 persons each.
