38th Junior National Rowing Championships inaugurated in Odisha Cuttack: The 38th Junior National Rowing Championships was inaugurated at Jagatpur in the district on Tuesday.

The Rowing Championships was inaugurated in the presence of Odisha Governor Dr. SC Jamir, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Orissa Association of Rowing & Sculling President Binod Dash and other dignitaries.

“It is a matter of pride that the girls from Odisha have been in the forefront in rowing competitions. Really happy to know that rowing as a sport has been a popular sport amongst the general public,” said the Union Minister on his Twitter page.

“Will take all possible steps to ensure that rowing as a sports is leveraged to restore the past maritime glory of the state & to promote tourism and allied activities. Promised to take up all issues plaguing the sport with the Union Sports Ministry,” he added.


The Junior National Rowing Championship, which will conclude on November 18,  has been organised and hosted by Orissa Association of Rowing & Sculling on behalf of the Rowing Federation of India.

The 38th Junior National Rowing Championships consist of the following events:

Junior Men
Single Sculls JM1X
Double Sculls JM2X
Coxless Pairs JM2-
Coxless Fours JM4-

Junior Women
Single Sculls JW1X
Double Sculls JW2X
Coxless Pairs JW2-
Coxless Fours JW4-

The races is being conducted over a 1000 M, 4lane, marked rowing course.
