roas washed awayRayagada: Life was thrown out of gear in almost 30 villages of the district on Thursday after the lone road connecting these villages with the nearest town Gunupur and Srikakulam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh was swept away by flash floods.

Reports say the villages under Gathalapada and Marampa Panchayats in Gunupur block were cut off from the rest of the district following a flash flood caused by torrential rain which lashed the district in the last 24 hours. The situation arose after an approach road connecting an under construction bridge located near Jagannathpur village was washed away completely by the rainwater. The approach road, being the only communication line to the nearest Gunupur town, left people with no other option to move out of the villages. Long ques of vehicles were seen on both the sides of this road.

District administration had not reached the spot till this report was filed.
