3 lakh youth to get on-job training in Japan: Dharmendra Pradhan

Dharmendra PradhanNew Delhi: In an effort to enhance skill development among the youth, the government of India will send three lakh youth to Japan for on-job training for 3-5 years as part of a bilateral technical training programme.

Japan will bear the financial cost of the skill training of Indian technical interns, Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said while briefing the media after the cabinet meeting here on Wednesday.

The Minister said the Cabinet has approved the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between India and Japan on the ‘Technical Intern Training Program (TITP). He said the MoC is expected to be signed during his three-day visit to Tokyo starting from 16th of October.

Pradhan also said these youth would work in the Japanese ecosystem and get employment opportunities there along with accommodation facility.

“TITP is an ambitious program to send Three Lakh Indian technical interns to Japan for on the job training for a period of three to five yrs,” Pradhan said in a series of tweet. “The MoC will pave the way for Indo-Japan bilateral cooperation in the area of skill development & will improve India’s National Productivity.”
