3 killed as car rams into stationary truck in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic road mishap, at least three persons were killed after the car they were traveling in rammed into a stationary trailer truck on National Highway-16 near Satsang Vihar in the capital city last night.

The deceased have been identified as Kumar Chandan, Debashis Mishra and Parshuram Harichandan of Bhubaneswar.

The trio was heading to Rasulgarh from Jaydev Vihar in a Volkawagen car bearing registration number OD 02 AU 0571 at a high-speed when the driver of the vehicle failed to spot the trailer truck which had parked on the highway, and ended up dashing against it from the rear.

The car got completely mangled from the front and also caught fire under the impact of the collision, the intensity of which was very high. The trio boarding the vehicle sustained burn injury in the crash.

Saheed Nagar Police reached the spot immediately and rushed the injured to Capital Hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

Police have seized the mangled vehicle and started investigation into the incident.
