Balangir: At least two minor boys were killed after being struck by lightning in Uding village under Belpara police limits in the district on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Ishwar Boe and Paramanand Bhoi.
The mishap took place minutes after the calming down of the heavy rain and gusty wind which was triggered by a Nor’wester and lashed the village at around 8 AM in the morning. The victim duo went out of their house to collect some mangoes which had dropped from trees in a nearby garden due to the wind and got struck by a lightning bolt there. They died on the spot.
Police have reached the village and seized the bodies for autopsy.
