Balangir: At least two youths were killed and another sustained critical injury after a tractor they were travelling by skidded off the road and turned turtle at Lathakend Square under Belpada Police Station area in the district on Friday.
The deceased duo is Guru Nial and Gobardhan Bhoi of Lathakend village. The injured who happens to be the driver of the vehicle has been identified as Narendra Kata.
The mishap took place in the morning while the trio were on their way to load a sand consignment from Nathabudha river bed. The driver of the tractor lost control over the wheels at Lathakend Square causing it to overturn and plunge into a farmland.
While, Guru and Gobardhan died being crushed under the overturned tractor, Narendra was rushed to Kantabanji CHC by some locals in critical condition. He was later shifted to Balangir DHH due to deteriorating health.
Belpada Police has reached the spot and sent the bodies for autopsy after seizing the mangled vehicle.
An investigation is underway in the incident.
