2 KIIT School Students bag Dr A P J Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards

IGNITE awardsBhubaneswar: Two students from city based KIIT International School were selected to receive the prestigious Dr A P J Abdul Kalam IGNITE Awards this year, as announced by National Innovation Foundation, Govt. of India on the occasion of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary on October 15.

Anshuman Nayak of Grade III and Subhra Suchismita Patel of Grade XII have been selected to receive this award for their respective scientific innovations.

Anshuman created a smart car that would stop if its driver violated the traffic rules. Subhra, who will receive the award for the second time, designed an intelligent rag sorting and picking machine. In 2016, she was a winner for her idea of farmer shoes that could plant seeds.

The competition invites unaided ideas for a better country and national development; promotes innovations among children. Out of a total national entry of over 55,000 project ideas that covered every district of India, only 29 project ideas are being awarded after a six stage selection process.

Besides the KIIT School Sudents, four other students from Odisha were also nominated to receive this annual award.

KIIT and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta congratulated the young scientists for their extraordinary achievements and wished them best in their future endeavours.
