2 houses gutted, over 40 goats burnt in Khordha village fire

Khordha: At least two houses were gutted and over 40 cattle burnt alive in a deadly fire which broke out in Daleiput village under Sadar police limits in the district last night.

Sparks erupted in one cattle trader Antaryami Subudhi’s cattle shed in Upara Sahi area of the village at around 12 midnight and later spread to other parts of his house. As many as three cattle sheds owned by Subudhi and accommodating over 150 goats were engulfed by the flames, killing over 40 animals.

Though the trader managed to save a majority of the goats by opening the doors of the sheds immediately, a number of animals sustained critical burn injury in the mishap.

Fire Brigade teams from Khordha reached the spot and brought the blaze under control later in the night.

Villagers have demanded suitable compensation to the victim, who has been rendered homeless in the fire mishap.
