2 arrested in Angul triple murder case

Angul triple murderAngul: Solving the triple murder case of Gambharimulia village in Angul district of October 10, police arrested two persons on Thrusday and seized the weapon used in the crime from their possession.

The arrested two have been identified as Nanda Kishore Sethi and Babula Behera.

Informing on the arrests at a press conference in the city this afternoon, Angul SP Brajesh Kumar Rai confirmed that the motive behind the murder was loot. He said the accused duo admitted to the crime during interrogation and revealed that they killed Biranchi Nayak, wife Tarini Nayak and six-year-old son Naba Nayak to loot the around Rs 1.75 lakh which the victim had borrowed from a bank on the day of the incident.

Earlier in the day, the special police team formed by the Angul Police to probe the triple murder seized blood stained clothes, a billhook and a Hero CD Deluxe bike used in the crime from the possession of the accused duo and took them for spot inspection.

On October 10, Biranchi’s dead body was found under the Guriamunda bridge near Pokanda village under Thakurgad police limits, which is 70 kilometres away from his home. Tarini’s body was found at her home in Gambharimulia and son Naba’s body was recovered later in the day on the foothills of Birimundi in the district. The bodies of all three were found with their throats slit.
