12 Hour Dabugaon Bandh To Protest Anti-Hindu Facebook Post

Nabarangpur: The members of Hindu Mahasangh, a local socio-religious outfit, observed a 12 hour bandh in Dabugaon block headquarter in the district on Tuesday, protesting against police inaction over repeated anti-Hindu remarks on social media.

Speaking to Kalinga TV, a member of the Hindu Mahasangh said that a person named as Rajesh Jani had posted several objectionable statements against Hindu religion including Hindu epics Ramayan and Mahabharat on his Facebook post on January 7 and 9.

“We have lodged an FIR against Rajesh at the Dabugaon police station for his controversial remarks on Facebook but the police have not taken any action against him,” alleged a protesting member.

“The accused is roaming free and continuously posting hatred remarks against Hindu beliefs,” he added saying the reason behind the dawn to dusk bandh.

Meanwhile, the vehicular traffic on the roads came to a grinding halt in Dabugaon as the protesters have staged road blockade on SH 39, connecting to two important town of the district – Nabarangpur and Umerkote.

The local educational institutions and business establishments also remained closed due to the dawn-to-dusk bandh.

Adequate security was deployed in the block headquarter to avoid any untoward incident in this connection.
