Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, an eleven year old girl student was found pregnant in Potrel village under Orkel Police Station limits in Malkangiri district on Friday.
The victim girl, a Class VI student, was staying at her hostel in Protel Residential School managed by the ST and SC Development department, Government of Odisha. She left the school as well as hostel in April 2017 and took admission in another School.
The incident came to light after the girl student and her parents complained to the Protel School Head Master in this regard. The girl complained that hostel cook Parsuram Podiami assaulted her sexually in December 2017 and repeated the crime thrice after the incident.
The police arrested prime accused Podiami and sent him for medical examination after the aggrieved parents lodged an FIR in this connection on Friday.
“Further investigation is in going on and appropriate action will be taken against the culprit and give justice to the minor girl,” said Inspector In-Charge of Orkel police station Sumita Jena.
