11 Rugby players from Odisha leave for women’s National training camp

Bhubaneswar: As many as 11 Rugby players from the state on Wednesday left for Bombay Gymkhana in Mumbai to take part in the Indian Women’s Rugby XVs – National training camp.

Meerarani Hembram, Manjulata Pradhan, Sumitra Nayak, Bhagyalaxmi Barik, Laxmipriya Sahu, Sanjukta Munda, Shubhalaxmi Barik, Hupi Mahji, Rajani Sabar, Lija Sarkar and Parbati Kisku are the 11 players who will take part in the National training camp schedule to be held from May 11 to 31.

The Indian National Women’s team will be selected during the training camp which will participate in the first Asia Rugby XVs Championship Division-1. The championship will be held in Singapore from June 1 to 6.

The Tri-national series will see India take on host Singapore on June 2 and then lock horns with Philippines on June 5.
