Bhadrak: As many as 106 baby cobra snakes were rescued by Bhadrak snake helpline from a man’s house at Samapur village of the district this morning.
According to reports, Bijaya Bhuina saw a cobra in a termite mound in his house some months ago. He was looking after it by giving milk and other food. However, to his surprise, he found around 20 baby cobras coming out of the termite mound, following which he put phenyle in the termite mound. Later, more than 100 baby snakes came out of the termite mound. Bhuina, in a state of fear, called the officials of the snake helpline, who went to the spot and rescued the snakes.
Around 10-11 snakes were also found dead due to the phenyle and 20 eggs were recovered from the spot.
Efforts are on to break the termite mound suspecting that there may be more snakes including the mother snake in it.
The snake helpline members are slated to leave the rescued baby snakes in the near-by forest.
