Phulbani: In yet another tragic road mishap in the state, at least 10 persons sustained injuries and nine others critical after a private bus carrying them rolled down the Lambabali Ghat under Kotagarh police limits in Kandhamal district and met with an accident on Monday.
The mishap took place at around 9 AM in the morning while the bus named ‘Blessy N Blessy’ was on its way to Kotagarh from Gugurumaha with around 150 passengers on board. Driver of the overloaded vehicle lost control over the wheels while climbing the hilly road causing it to roll down and hit nearby trees.
The injured were rushed to Kotagarh CHC by police who reached the spot immediately.
Police said the bus was overloaded due to which the mishap could have taken place. Some passengers were travelling even on the roof of the bus, they added.
Police is trying to trace the driver of the bus who managed to escape from the site following the incident.
